Last December 31st, in a private park in Piazzetta Arenella, the firecrackers were about to be replaced by a much more dangerous bang.

In fact, an arson attack was committed against two parked cars and the flames almost grazed the gas meters that were located a short distance away.

The owner of one of the cars that was set on fire turned to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli to tell what happened after having filed a complaint:

“I live in a condominium in Vomero (Piazzetta Arenella) and on December 31st at 7:10 am, at the end of the night guard shift, 2 hooded men entered through the main gate and doused my car and that of another condominium member with petrol, setting it on fire.

Only thanks to the availability of the fire pump present in each stairwell was I able to prevent the cars from exploding, with significant risks to the homes.

“According to what was stated in the report, the victim had never received any threats, so investigators are working to understand the reasons for the attack.

"It could have been a massacre. The perpetrators of the act must be identified as soon as possible and brought to justice also because the reasons for the attack must be discovered, the victim could now be in danger and must be protected." - these are the words of Borrelli together with those of the municipal councilors of Europa Verde Rino Nasti and Luca Bonetti.
