A 48 year old man, coming from a municipality in the province of Napoli, was arrested red-handed for the theft of 350 litres of diesel from the tanks of trucks and heavy vehicles parked in a terminal in Flumeri, in the province of Avellino.
The Carabinieri surprised him while he was loading the stolen fuel into his car and proceeded to arrest him. Although he attempted to flee on foot and get rid of the cans, he was caught and stopped by the police who were carrying out a check of the territory.
The parking lot in question is used by heavy vehicles employed in the construction sites of the Naples-Bari High Capacity railway. By order of the Benevento Prosecutor's Office, the thief was transferred to house arrest after being reported.
