An anti-mafia operation by the Guardia di Finanza, called 'Oleandro', is underway in Sicily, Campania, Tuscany and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Over 120 finance officers from the Catania provincial command and those from the GICO are executing a precautionary custody order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Etna capital at the request of the DDA against 15 suspects.
The alleged crimes, to varying degrees, include mafia association, usury, drug trafficking and dealing, and money laundering through the reinvestment of illicit proceeds in economic activities.
