Friday 2 February at 21 pm, on the stage of the Bolivar theatre (Via Bartolomeo Caracciolo, 30) directed by Nu'Tracks, the Burlesque Cabaret Napoli returns with “Les Folies Napolitaines”.
Burlesque Cabaret Napoli was born in 2013 from the meeting between Floriana D'Ammora and Roberta della Volpe, aka Fanny Damour and Roby Roger who, after having shared a wide-ranging educational path, including theater, dance, visual arts, graphics and comics, decided to dedicate themselves to the study and research of an art form and entertainment that is still little known to the general public: Burlesque.
The show is inspired by the variety shows of the golden age of Paris at the Les Folies Bergère theatre and harks back to a European tradition of music hall, variety and cabaret where there was a licentious, erotic and at the same time comical atmosphere. In the show Les Folies Napolitaines, there are alternating sketches in which each performer is the protagonist and brings to the stage his or her personal vision of eroticism, crossing the invisible line between stage and spectator. The common basis of the performances is the strip tease, where everyone can remove what they want, let it be glimpsed, drag the audience into another era, into a dreamlike dimension made of feathers, sequins, pailettes and early jazz music.
Fanny Damour is an Italian performer and illustrator born and raised in Naples. In 2015 she won the first edition of the Milan Extraordinaire festival with the international jury of the Ministry School of Burlesque and the magazine This is Cabaret of London. She has participated in important festivals such as Hebden Bridge Burlesque Festival in the UK, Amsterdam Burlesque Award, Ginevra Burlesque Festival, New York Burelsque Festival, and has performed internationally in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto) and the United States (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans) for the main Cabarets in the world.
Roby Roger is a graphic designer and dancer from Naples. Winner of the Italian Music Award for best graphic design for the album Immaginaria by Almamegretta. She was part of the cast of the film “Passione” directed by John Turturro, presented in 2010 at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. She is part of the staff of Burlesque.it, the first portal dedicated to Burlesque in Italy. She also created WOW! a graphic tribute to international burlesque, exhibited at the Milan Burlesque Award in 2012.
In the 19th century, in the USA and Great Britain, burlesque was a show that parodied the world, habits and pastimes of the aristocracy and rich industrialists, to entertain the less well-off classes. Naples seems to be the ideal city to host entertainment shows of European and American origin, but which at the same time have a strong link with the Neapolitan tradition, such as that of the Cafè Chantant, our version of the French Cabaret shows, with its licentious atmospheres. Thus was born a first nucleus of Neapolitan Burlesque, which could be defined in all respects as a theatrical Company. In addition to its founders there are: Salvatore Veneruso aka Marlon Dietritch, Chiara D'Agostino aka Grace Heart, Alessandro Capasso aka Il Capasso, Chiara Sarrubbi aka Medusa, Danilo Blaquier aka Vertigo, Floriana Coppola aka Madame Flo.
