Arzano. The Di Lauro clan claims to own his bar, the victim pays the bills. To free himself from torment, he pays 100 thousand euros in cash.
Five people were arrested by the Carabinieri of Casoria and ROS on behalf of the Public Prosecutor of Naples. The operation was conducted as part of an investigation directed and coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Naples.
The order of precautionary custody in prison was issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples against five defendants (three of whom were already detained for other cases), seriously suspected of extortion aggravated by the mafia method.
The investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri Station of arzano in November 2023, they started from the complaint of a Arzano merchant who claimed to be the victim of extortion by three members of the DiLauro clan of Secondigliano, known to him, since October 2020.
The entrepreneur, after having refused to sell his bar to the Di Lauro clan, was forced to pay them 70.000 euros in monthly installments of 1.000 euros, guaranteed by bills of exchange signed and delivered to the offenders. At each payment of an instalment, a bill of exchange was returned which served as a guarantee for the payment itself.
This went on until July 2022, when the man decided to to sell the business in the hope that the extortion would stop. But it didn't. In fact, in January 2023, when he opened another bar in another area of Arzano, the extortionists returned, threatening to kill him and asking for the extortion fee again.
What was reported to the Carabinieri of Arzano is only part of the story. In fact, the victim, during the interrogation with the public prosecutor of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, revealed that the Di Lauro clan had forced him to pay extortion sums already starting from 2018, since the Camorra family believed it owned its business.
The repentant Salvatore Rosselli confirmed the investigative hypothesis
Indeed, the ROS military of Naples verified that the victim had paid 100.000 euros in cash to the Di Lauros at the beginning of 2019 to end all their claims, although untitled, on his commercial activity.
Some statements from the collaborator of justice Salvatore Roselli, member of the Amato-Pagano clan, have further confirmed the facts. Those arrested today, involved in two different extortion episodes, are considered affiliated with the Di Lauro clan of Secondigliano.
