The Court of Napoli, VII Criminal Section, has ordered the revocation of the precautionary measure of house arrest for the former Forza Italia senator, Luigi Cesaro.
The news was announced by lawyers Alfonso Furgiuele and Michele Sanseverino, representing the former senator, who was placed under house arrest on October 22, 2022, as part of an investigation conducted by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate. The charges against him were external involvement in mafia association and aggravated electoral corruption.
The judges revoked Cesaro's house arrest and ordered his immediate release, granting the request presented by his lawyers.
The decision was taken because, according to the defense, the precautionary needs have completely disappeared, no longer justifying the continuation of the restrictive measure.
Luigi Cesaro welcomed the news with satisfaction. Lawyers Furgiuele and Sanseverino stated that the court issued a decision in full compliance with the regulatory provisions on precautionary measures, as interpreted by the jurisprudence of the Court of Cassation.
Recognizing that the objective conditions to justify maintaining the precautionary measure currently do not exist, the defense is ready to face the trial on the merits with the certainty of demonstrating the groundlessness of the charges brought against Cesaro and obtaining a just acquittal.
