Extortion against a pharmacist and an attempt against a merchant: the elderly boss Aldo Picca and the emerging Nicola Di Martino were sentenced.
The first degree trial against the two men accused of having imposed a bribe in view of Easter in Teverola, in the province of Caserta70-year-old Aldo Picca was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison, while 35-year-old Nicola Di Martino, known as "twenty-three," received a sentence of 5 and a half years.
The sentence was issued by a summary hearing by the preliminary hearing judge of the Naples court, Marina Miranda, who upheld the Anti-Mafia Commission's argument. Picca and Di Martino had been arrested by the Carabinieri on Holy Saturday, just hours before Easter, on charges of two counts of extortion aggravated by mafia methods, one of which was attempted.
Accused and convicted of mafia association in the Spartacus I trial, Aldo Picca was one of the key figures in the 90s feud. He was released in 2020 after a long prison sentence, including one under the 41bis regime. Nicola Di Martino, on the other hand, is considered by the Anti-Mafia Authority to be the heir to the criminal cartel led by Picca and dominant in the Carinaro and Teverola areas of Caserta.
