Assets worth over one million euros have been seized from the boss of Ponticelli, Ciro Naturale called 'o mellone.

The seizure was carried out by the military of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza and by the personnel of the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters of Napoli, in collaboration with the Central Service for the Investigation of Organized Crime.

The preventive seizure order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the local Anti-Mafia District Directorate, against Ciro Naturale, considered a leading member of the Camorra clan “De Micco-De Martino”, active in the eastern area of the Neapolitan capital.

The measure originates from investigations by the State Police, directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which last September 14 led to the adoption of an order validating the arrest and the simultaneous application of a precautionary measure against Ciro Natural, of his son and his brother-in-law, as they are seriously suspected of the crimes of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm in a public place, as well as attempted extortion, aggravated by mafia methods.

The investigations were started following an ambush perpetrated on 8 July 2023 against the boss, the top member of the gang “De Micco-De Martino”, wounded by numerous gunshots to the abdomen, collarbone and left ear. An ambush of clear Camorra origin and logically linked to the conflicts between rival clans active in the Ponticelli neighborhood.

Hospitalized, the victim of the ambush then returned to the territory where, together with his son and brother-in-law, he allegedly undertook intimidating actions, also using firearms, against individuals who had not paid significant amounts of drugs for tens of thousands of euros. Hence the restrictive measure, confirmed on October 2 by the Review Court.

Subsequent economic and patrimonial investigations by the GICO of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples have revealed significant inconsistencies over a very long period of time (between 2010 and 2023) between the value of the assets available to the main suspect (currently detained at the Avellino prison) and his family unit and the declared income or economic activities carried out.

Current accounts held by front men were also seized

This circumstance, symptomatic of an illicit accumulation of assets over time, is the basis of the preventive seizure carried out today, concerning a residential home for civilian use including a garage, two cars and the balances on the bank and financial accounts available to the suspect, including through a third party, for a total estimated value of approximately 1 million euros.
