The investigation by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office into the purchase of Victor Osimhen by Napoli it was closed, but Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of the blue club, remains under investigation for false accounting.De Laurentiis' lawyer, Fabio Fulgeri, stated that the investigation was closed without the hypothesis of tax crimes, which had initially been hypothesized, being contested.
“Terminically, false accounting arises to defraud the tax authorities”, explained Fulgeri, “but in this case this did not happen.”
The investigation remains open, however, and De Laurentiis will now be able to examine the documents to present his defense.
The president of Napoli has confirmed that he will appear before the prosecutor's office to explain the operation and defend himself from the accusations. Prosecutor of Rome will now have to decide whether to send De Laurentiis to trial or definitively close the investigation.
“I remind you that today is not a referral to trial, but a notice that the investigations have been concluded and now we can examine the documents and then begin to explain our formal defense before the prosecutor. I believe that next week, from Thursday onwards, we will be able to read the documents and we will try to explain our reasons”, explained lawyer Fulgeri.
And then he concluded: “Let's see what they are accusing us of because there is no need to identify the fraudulent profit, we wonder what the advantage of Napoli would be given that the Federal Prosecutor's Office has already excluded these advantages, we will see”.
The Napoli football club is also involved in the proceedings of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office which sees the club's owner Aurelio De Laurentiis under investigation, accused of false accounting on alleged illicit activities surrounding the sale of Victor Osimhen. The act of closure of the investigation was also notified to the other suspects: these are the members of the Board of Directors who were in office at the time of the events.
