The Minister of the Interior must guarantee security in hospitalsThis is what the governor of the Campania, Vincenzo De Luca. "The latest incident of violence against healthcare workers in our hospitals, most recently at San Leonardo in Castellammare, urgently raises the issue of safety and protection for our healthcare workers.", he explains in a note.
"Following the countless requests already made to the Ministry of the Interior in recent years; and finally, recalling the recent request regarding an episode of violence that occurred at Giugliano Hospital, and that it is the duty of the Ministry of the Interior's law enforcement agencies to combat violence and ensure the safety of citizens, specifically healthcare workers in hospitals and on board emergency ambulances, I reiterate my request to the Ministry of the Interior to establish police stations at least in all facilities where incidents of aggression and violence have occurred. And this time, I hope for concrete responses and clear decision-making timelines to safeguard our staff."
"In the absence of effective and timely decisions, as we have unfortunately seen in the past, we do not exclude drastic decisions on the activity of the facilities where the safety of our staff is not guaranteed. - points out - Regarding emergency rooms and many hospital facilities, where it is now difficult to guarantee work shifts due to dramatic staff shortages, even in the face of repeated unsuccessful competitions, we will communicate in the next few hours our final requests to the Government to prevent the collapse of public healthcare services resulting from the lack of decisions under the direct responsibility of the current and previous governments.
