Massimo Troisi Park in San Giovanni a Teduccio, which should act as a green lung for the neighborhood, is in a state of total abandonment and persistent degradation.
The children's playground equipment is destroyed and unusable, while the public restrooms have partially collapsed, making the area a dangerous place to avoid. Even the once-characteristic lake is now a desolate space devoid of water and dominated by neglect.
A citizen, speaking to Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green-Left alliance, documented the situation, describing Massimo Troisi Park as an area that, in the past, was frequented by families for pleasant walks in the greenery, children's games, and sports activities.
Currently, the 120.000 square meters of the park are plagued by neglect, natural degradation, and vandalism. Broken and vandalized rides discourage parents from bringing their children to the park, turning it into a sad spectacle and contributing to the further degradation of Naples.
Despite ongoing reports, the park remains in increasingly degrading condition. Borrelli emphasized that the area, which should be a place for recreation and gathering, has become dangerous and should be avoided. He reiterated the need for a redevelopment project not only for this park, but also for most of the city's green spaces, which are in precarious condition. Borrelli expressed hope that a project to revitalize and redevelop the entire area will begin as soon as possible.
