From January 4th to 6th, the XNUMXth edition of the DiVino Jazz Festival comes to life with concerts by Richard Galliano, Stefano Di Battista and James Senese.
The festival conceived and directed by Gigi Di Luca, scheduled in 6 municipalities of the Vesuvian area, presents, in addition to music, various free-access initiatives: cultural and naturalistic itineraries, guided tours, wine tasting and taste workshops. Also scheduled are performances by the Magicaboola Street Band, Matteo Franza quartet and the La Bazzarra theatre school.
Thursday 4 January Richard Galliano is expected at the Basilica di Pugliano in Ercolano. Universally recognized as an exceptional soloist with rare versatility, the French accordionist and composer brings his acclaimed “New York Tango Trio” to the stage at DiVino Jazz. With the presence of Adrien Moignard (guitar) and Diego Imbert (double bass), Richard Galliano manages to blend New Tango and New Musette into a single, completely personal style with a jazz approach. Playing in a totally free way, sometimes far from the score, but never from the soul of the composer.
Friday January 5 at 20.30:XNUMX pm at the Auditorium Irene De Risi in Boscotrecase one of the most acclaimed Italian jazz musicians in the world arrives: Stefano Di Battista. The Roman saxophonist and composer presents in a quartet “Morricone Stories”, his personal tribute to the composer and Oscar winner, to whom he was linked by a sincere friendship and several collaborations. Known and lesser-known themes by Ennio Morricone become perfect jazz standards thanks to a proven line-up that includes Andrea Rea on piano, Daniele Sorrentino on double bass and Luigi Del Prete on drums.
On the day of the Epiphany - Saturday January 6 At 20.30:40 pm at Villa Campolieto in Ercolano, it's the turn of the legendary James Senese. Forty years after his solo debut with the self-titled album, Senese returned to the music scene last May with a new album (the 21st of his career), "Stiamo cerca il Mondo." A sincere and passionate work that remains faithful to the expressive urgency that has led him, over nearly sixty years of music—from Showmen with Mario Musella to Napoli Centrale with Franco Del Prete, through his deep bond with Pino Daniele—to be a point of reference for many generations of musicians.
This edition of the Vesuvian festival will conclude on January 11th at the Teatro Di Costanzo Mattiello in Pompeii, with a live performance by Maria Pia De Vito (originally scheduled for December 28th). The Neapolitan singer, one of the most esteemed vocalists in European jazz, will perform alongside Brazilian guitarist Roberto Taufic and Roberto Rossi on drums. The trio presents a transcultural project—merging Brazilian, Neapolitan, and jazz musical traditions—that yields a surprising organic unity. This reveals how seemingly distant expressive worlds actually have many elements in common: melancholy, lyricism, fatalism, and other more exquisitely lexical and melodic elements.
The XVII edition of the DiVino Jazz Festival is financed and promoted by the Campania Region (POC Campania 2014-20, Urban Regeneration, Tourism and Cultural Policies) and co-financed by the municipalities of Ercolano (project leader), Torre del Greco, Torre Annunziata, Pompei, Boscoreale and Boscotrecase.
All concerts and initiatives in the program are free of charge, until all available seats are taken. For further information: www.divinojazzfestival.it
