The deployment of two police squads at the San Paolo hospital in Naples and the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia, as well as the decision to consider all hospital facilities as sensitive targets.
This is what the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, convened by the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, decided following the latest incidents of violence against healthcare workers in emergency rooms.
"Healthcare is a sacred matter, and people's health is a sacred matter," the prefect emphasized, "and medical and paramedical personnel, and those in the healthcare sector in general, have our full solidarity, because these actions cannot be justified from any angle."
Speaking to journalists at the end of the Committee meeting, Di Bari emphasized that, on this issue, we are not starting from scratch.

Police squads already present in 4 other hospitals
Today, with enormous sacrifices in terms of personnel, we have decided to deploy two additional squads. We believe this is an effective response when compared to the overall safety framework that must cover healthcare facilities.
In addition to this, the prefect specifies, "We have also decided to make all healthcare facilities sensitive targets. This means," he continues, "that local police forces are also required to provide an active contribution in terms of surveillance and control, but also by staying at these healthcare facilities, because all of this contributes to a significant deterrent effect."
