The president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, has urgently called a meeting to address the crisis related to the shortage of staff in emergency rooms.
In addition to making some operational decisions, the official statement reiterates the accusations against the Government for "extremely serious responsibilities" regarding the Campania Region's healthcare staff, which it deemed insufficient.
Palazzo Santa Lucia denounces a "scandalous undersupply of hospital beds in Campania," criticizing the "permanent and unjustified restrictions" that limit the ability to address this shortage.
At today's meeting, every possible solution, even temporary, was examined to address the problems in regional emergency rooms.
Faced with a lack of participation by doctors in the numerous competitions held to fill emergency room positions, a specific resolution was approved to authorize the use, even on a fixed-term basis, of medical personnel with specialties related to emergency care, such as cardiologists, gastroenterologists, and internists, both from personnel already employed in healthcare facilities and from eligible individuals on regional rankings.
Furthermore, the decision was made to quickly announce a single regional competition to reassess the availability of doctors for emergency room activities.
