Mold, damp patches, cracks in the ceiling, broken radiators, broken toilets, non-functioning drains.
This is the situation at the Giovanni Falcone elementary school in Melito of Naples denounced by a group of mothers who turned to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli:
"There are water leaks from the ceiling, the boiler has been broken for two months, and the ordered part may arrive by January 22nd, and the bathrooms are broken. Furthermore, some of our children, as certified by doctors, cannot live in damp and moldy environments for health reasons."

"We are asking the school management to have a clear picture of the situation and determine whether any interventions are planned," Borrelli stated. "We have also alerted the local health authority, the municipal police, and the fire department to have inspections carried out to ensure the building is safe and not a health hazard.
The emergency of our local schools has been dragging on for decades and without interventions many structures will soon be completely inadequate and will represent a trap for students, teachers and school staff. We need a complete intervention plan.”
