This is the bloody trail of blood left on the streets of Scampia, Secondigliano and its surroundings in the Camorra conflict between the Di Lauro and Licciardi clans years' 90.
The highest sentence, life imprisonment, was given to the boss Paolo Di Lauro, alias Ciruzzo the Millionaire and to the hitman Raffaele Perfect, who have chosen not to collaborate with justice.
Thirty years each were instead inflicted on Guido Abbinante and Raffaele Abbinante, who have always denied the accusations.
For the other defendants, the sentences were decidedly softer, especially considering the consistency of the charges:
Giuseppe Lo Russo and Gennaro Trambarulo they fixed it 20 years thanks to the recognition of mitigating circumstances;
Calzone Rite he made up for it 18 years and 8 months thanks to the recognition of mitigating circumstances;
Maurizio Prestieri, Ettore Sabatino and Antonio Leonardi they cashed in 18 years, 16 years and 14 yearsThe three informants admitted their responsibilities, confessing their involvement in the Principino Feud.
The trail of blood that has gone down in history as the “Principino feud” began in the mid-90s following the murder of Vincenzo Esposito, alias “the little prince”, a scion of the Licciardi family who was murdered after a fight in a nightclub with some members of the Di Lauro clan.
Antonio Prestieri he was thus accused of the attempted murder of Carmine Brancaccio, which took place at Masseria Cardone on 17 March 1997.
Paolo DiLauro, Antonio Leonardi and Gennaro Russor they have to answer for thePasquale Benderi “Peugeot” murder, affiliated with the Di Lauros, murdered in Melito March 25, 1997.
By Lauro, Sabatino and Raffaele Amato (later removed) are under investigation for themurder of Ciro Cianciulli, who wanted to go over to the Licciardis, Killed on April 3, 1997.
By Lauro, Lo Russo, Leonardi, Maurizio Prestieri and Trambarulo were charged for the murders of Francesco Fusco and Armando Esposito, which occurred on April 7, 1997.
The other crimes contested are those of Eduardo Cianciulli, Giuseppe Balestrieri, Gennaro Romano, Raffaele Ruggiero and the attempted murder of Antonio Ruggiero “Tonino sette botte”, Renato Tramontano and Umberto Zovasco, known as the “Pole”.
The twists and turns of the trial
In the hearing held last December - as Il Roma recalls - there were some important twists and turns: Giuseppe Lo Russo, Gennaro Trambarulo and Rito Calzone they had in fact decided to admit one's responsibilities, confessing his involvement in the “Little Prince feud”.
Diametrically opposed is the procedural line of “Ciruzzo 'o milionario”, Raffaele Abbinante, Guido Abbinante and Raffaele Perfetto, who instead decided not to confess anything. A move that cost Di Lauro a life sentence.
The low sentences, especially for the clan leaders, have sparked protests from the civil parties, who have announced an appeal.
