The Court of Naples has sentenced two leading members of the Picca - Di Martino clan, active in the municipality of teverola, in the Caserta area, for extortion aggravated by mafia methods and attempted extortion.
In particular, the judges sentenced the 5-year-old to 6 years and 68 months. Aldo Picca, head of the gang, and 5 years and 4 months of imprisonment for the 54-year-old Nicholas DiMartino, his lieutenant.
The two were stopped on April 7th by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Caserta On orders from the Naples District Anti-Mafia Office, he was charged with extorting several sums of money from a pharmacist who owned three pharmacies, starting in 2000, the last amounting to two thousand euros in June 2021.
Another charge is that he demanded protection money from a businessman before the 2023 Easter holidays; in this case, the payment was not made due to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri, to whom the businessman had turned.
The charges held up in court and the first-degree conviction was handed down on January 11th.
