Emanuela Belcuore has agreed to a plea bargain sentence of one year and ten months in prison in relation to a case in which she was accused of favoring a prisoner in exchange for luxury gifts, including a pair of shoes.
The former guarantor of prisoners of the province of Caserta She had been investigated for corruption and other crimes by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Prosecutor's Office last July. The legal case attracted national attention, and a few days after the search, Belcuore resigned from her post.

Judge Daniela Vecchiarelli approved the plea bargain, also ordering the payment of two thousand euros in damages. The prosecution alleged that Belcuore had warned an inmate, who was illegally in possession of a cell phone in the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, of the impending searches of his cell, allowing him to hide the device.
Furthermore, it was alleged that the former surety had tried to secure a positive working relationship for him. In exchange for these favors, Belcuore allegedly received sums of money and gifts, including a pair of luxury shoes from the inmate's sister's shop.
