The disused railway station of Ottaviano, on the former Torre Annunziata – Cancello line, will be given on loan for use to the Municipality, together with the relevant areas, including the open ones intended for parking
. The news was announced by the mayor Biagio Simonetti, who has been following the issue for some time and who managed to reach an agreement with Rfi (Italian Railway Network). The building and the adjacent areas will therefore be managed by the municipal administration, which is already thinking about their destination.
Simonetti explains: "It is our intention to make the building available for social and cultural activities, perhaps imagining giving a home to all the associations. In any case, it is an important structure, whose redevelopment will change the face of the entire area of via Ferrovia dello Stato".

The abandoned station is located close to the railway network that, instead, is destined to become a cycle path: the Campania Region has, in fact, already allocated funds for the path. The Torre Annunziata – Cancello line was closed in 2006 and definitively abolished in 2014: since then it has been in a state of decay.
Now the turning point: "We are finally recovering a public asset and making it available to the community. We are doing it with planning and relational skills: it is a project I am particularly proud of", adds the mayor.
