Following the theft of a warehouse containing sports equipment and clothing, a solidarity campaign was launched on social media to help the Arci Scampia football school.
The soccer school, which for decades has been a gathering place and a safe haven for minors in the Scampia neighborhood , was targeted by thieves on the night between January 7th and 8th. The theft severely affected the 350 enrolled students, many of whom do not pay fees because they lack the means.
The football and soccer fields of Arci Scampia are located in an area that used to be a “Parco del buco” frequented by drug addicts. Today, however, they are also made available for charitable initiatives.
"Arci Scampia survives thanks to the help of small sponsors," says Antonio Piccolo, founder of the soccer school , "and the theft was a huge blow, especially for the kids, to whom we were unable to deliver their tracksuits and other sportswear."
Some supporters of the soccer school have already launched solidarity initiatives on social media. "Many friends have already offered to lend us a hand," Piccolo adds . "Thanks to them, I'm sure, Arci Scampia will win its special match again this time."
