Geolier, the king of the 2023 charts with the album “Il coraggio dei bambini”, will be among the protagonists of the Sanremo Festival 2024. The rapper from Secondigliano, who will perform in the competition with the song “I p' me, tu p' te”, is thrilled to be able to represent his city on the Ariston stage.
“Going to Sanremo, singing in Neapolitan, my language, I already consider it a victory”, Geolier declared in an interview with Repubblica. “It will be my strong point. Everything that comes will be a plus.”
Geolier, who received the green light from Amadeus to sing a song entirely in dialect, said that the piece was created specifically for the festival. “I p' me, you p' you, means I for me and you for you, that is, I for my way, you for yours”, has explained. "It must mean the respect that you have to have towards your partner when there is no more love and in those cases you must not go on out of inertia or habit. It is a more melodic song than my repertoire, but I have not changed my nature".
The rapper stressed that his participation in Sanremo is also a way to bring Naples to the Ariston stage. “In fact, in this historical period it was almost obligatory to bring Naples on stage”he said. “It’s me, but it could have been someone else. It’s the result of what was sown in the past and has now blossomed.”
Geolier then spoke about his fears related to participating in the festival. “What scares me: talking and a little bit of Fantasanremo too, I'm not cut out for these things, even social media isn't for me”he said. "And then come first. Because then everything would be more difficult. Lifting the cup is never easy."
Geolier is ready to live a unique experience at the Sanremo Festival. The rapper is determined to represent his city and his music at their best.
