Neapolitan gynecologist slaughtered in Milan, the investigating judge: "Too many anomalies for suicide"

Further investigations are necessary, in particular "an in-depth medical-legal investigation", in the case of the death of the Campanian gynecologist Stefano Ansaldi, found with his throat cut on December 19, 2021 near Milan Central Station.

The decision was taken by the Preliminary Investigation Judge (GIP) Ileana Ramundo, accepting the request of the 65-year-old's family, represented by the lawyers Louis Sena e Francesco Cangiano, while the Prosecutor's Office had requested the case be closed.

The new tests will have to establish whether the throat was cut "scientifically refers to a self-harming gesture", as hypothesized by the prosecutors, "or rather to a homicidal event", as claimed by the family.

The judge expressed doubts about the reconstruction of a self-harming act, that is, suicide, in light of the observations reported in the reports of the consultants of the gynecologist's family.

In particular, the cut and the lesion occupy the right side of the neck, while, according to the experts, a right-handed person such as Dr. Ansaldi, should have proceeded with the blade starting from the left submandibular region in the case of a self-inflicted lesion.

The investigating judge ordered the documents returned to the prosecutors for further investigation, giving them a four-month deadline for a "complete forensic investigation" that also takes into account the observations of the expert witnesses, with in-depth scientific analysis of the cut of the "jugular vein" and the "partial lesion of the carotid artery."

Deputy prosecutor Laura Pedio and prosecutor Cecilia Vassena had asked to shelve the case, believing it to be a suicide. The gynecologist's family is convinced that he was killed, claiming that the doctor was attacked from behind by a person who cut his throat.

The preliminary investigations judge's decision opens the way for further investigations, including the investigation of a financial motive that could involve "foreign transfers" and suspicious transactions reported by some banks, to determine whether these could be a motive.

The investigating judge on the Ansaldi case says there are too many anomalies to suggest suicide.

Therefore, according to the investigating judge, there are too many "anomalies." Ileana Ramundo issued the order ordering new investigations into the matter, specifically forensic examinations of the throat slashing.

Among the elements indicated in the judge's order is the fact that no fingerprints were found on the knife, found near the body: it is true, in fact, the judge writes, that Ansaldi was wearing "latex gloves", but "it is at least anomalous that it did not bring back any fingerprints attributable to him" given that "at the time he must have obtained it, it is likely that he was not wearing latex gloves."

Furthermore, "The failure to find any cellular device or wallet is anomalous." of the doctor. One of the readings "possible", for the investigating judge, is that "The perpetrator of the murder took possession of it to prevent the discovery of conversations that had taken place on channels such as WhatsApp and were not recorded in the phone records."

Always "anomalous", according to the investigating judge, is the "the circumstance that in a self-harm scenario the man had chosen to wear the mask given that it could certainly have hindered the extreme gesture."

In the investigation, opened for voluntary homicide against unknown persons and for which the prosecutors had requested the case be closed, it had emerged, we read further, that the doctor "had deliberately provided" to his acquaintances "different explanations" on his journey from Napoli in Milan, if you want "perhaps, keep the actual reason for the trip confidential."

It also turns out that the 65-year-old was "in constant search of money" for its "high standard of living" and who had debts of around half a million euros.
