And the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, handed me the decree granting the title, which marks a historic day for Gragnano.
Thus said Nello D'Auria, mayor of Gragnano, commenting on the signing of the decree granting the title of City to the Municipality of Gragnano.
"I would like to sincerely thank President Mattarella, the Minister of the Interior, and the Prefect of Naples," D'Auria added, "for their great work and their invaluable contribution in advancing the procedural process that today allows Gragnano to boast a prestigious title on this wonderful day for all of us.

Our Municipality has all the requirements to be able to boast this title, especially considering its history and the role it has had in the wider territory of the Metropolitan City of Naples, but above all thanks to the people of Gragnano.
Gragnano plays a central role in the history of our country, a role it has assumed over the centuries, and still plays today, in the fields of culture, tourism, economic-productive, and food and wine, with pasta now a worldwide symbol of this land.
The recognition of the title of City, explains the mayor, "can represent for Gragnano not only a further element of cohesion and a sense of belonging among its citizens, but also and above all an important vehicle for boosting the cultural, touristic, social, and economic development that the entire town is undergoing.
We have launched a cultural revolution that finds, among its goals and splendid achievements, this extraordinary recognition. And it is for this reason,” Mayor D'Auria concludes, “that today I feel great pride and emotion. Today, more than ever, all of us citizens can feel proud to be protagonists of this beautiful story. Proud to be citizens of Gragnano.”
