Artificial intelligence is coming to museums, "technology must be accepted and mastered" but in the meantime the Uffizi, the Mann and the Brera Art Gallery are 'doubling' in size.

Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, interviewed by Rai Italia director Fabrizio Ferragni, launched his motto: concreteness and ambitious cultural projects.

"We almost have a debt to all humanity: to preserve the great heritage that history has passed down to us." he says. Between immateriality and a sense of tradition the common thread is almost tangible: "The goal is to double the number of locations of some large museums - explains the minister - and the 'autonomous' ones will also increase. We have over 5 million works of art, of which only 480.000 are visible. We must get our art out of storage, make it as accessible as possible, knowing that we won't be able to do this for every work. And we will also be engaging with artificial intelligence, which will arrive soon.

Florence, the cradle of Renaissance culture, was the first city to be affected: "I'm working on doubling the Uffizi through the Medici villas of Careggi and Montelupo, but also at the MANN in Naples with the former Albergo dei Poveri, and finally in Milan with the Pinacoteca di Brera at Palazzo Citterio."The boom in cultural visits during the recent holidays has definitively confirmed the desire for culture, with tourists from all five continents and, of course, Italy.

The Pantheon as well as the excavations of Pompeii have brought culture and economic benefits: "In Rome, the 5 euro ticket has generated significant profits, and we won't stop there." Artificial intelligence is the theme that embraces the future of culture worldwide.

"A few days ago I accompanied Elon Musk to the Borghese Gallery and San Luigi dei Francesi. He adores Caravaggio, knows its troubled history, and artificial intelligence could interact with structures to give value to our proposals. We must know how to ride the innovation that must be allowed but with limits; we must accept it but at the same time master it."The closing is dedicated to Rai, 70 years of TV and 100 of radio: "It is the largest Italian cultural company, which achieved linguistic unity, and which will certainly maintain an important role despite the strong changes in the information market."
