From January 12, 2024, “Accarezzame – Lazzarella – Dicitencello Vuje – Cammina Cammina”, the new EP by Joe Barbieri that celebrates Neapolitan song, will be available on all digital streaming platforms.
After celebrating his thirty-year career last year with a long and successful tour, Joe Barbieri is preparing to tackle one of the most significant and exciting projects of his career, his personal tribute to the Great Neapolitan Song through an album and a series of concerts (accompanied by Oscar Montalbano's manouche guitar and Nico Di Battista's DBguitar) which will be entitled "Vulío".
Last December Barbieri gave us a splendid unreleased song entitled “Vulesse 'O Cielo” which will anticipate the four songs called – this Friday 12 January – to christen his new adventure, namely “Accarezzame”, “Lazzarella”, “Dicitencello Vuje” and “Cammina Cammina, by the unforgettable Pino Daniele.
The remaining tracks from “Vulío” will be revealed digitally in groups of 4 every half month, to then be collected in a CD to be released in April. Just in time to kick off the tour that will take Joe Barbieri to many Italian theaters and festivals, starting on April 7th from Mola di Bari (BA) and passing through Naples on May 17th, where some extraordinary artist friends will join him to give life to a truly unique evening in honor of Neapolitan Song. The first names we can announce for this special night are Maurizio De Giovanni, Teresa De Sio and Raiz.
Tickets for all confirmed “Vulío” concerts are already available on the website www.joebarbieri.com/concerts
The artist explains about his new project: “Those who know me know how much respectful modesty I have towards Classical Neapolitan Song – says Barbieri – a modesty that over the years has often led me to desist from touching this treasure chest. However, inside me there has always burned the vulío (a word from my native language that I find beautiful, which means 'desire' and which also has to do with the wings of a dream) to pay homage to these works of art that have always illuminated my steps as an artist. Today, when I understand how important it is in life to let yourself go to gestures of love so as not to accumulate useless and late regrets, I feel the time has come to pay a due and free homage to my beloved Naples.”

Biography
Joe Barbieri is a fascinating anomaly. An outsider who has managed to carve out a personal path outside the industry track – abroad as well as in Italy – and who has succeeded in the rare exercise of channeling the genuine appreciation of colleagues, critics and the public.
Barbieri has released 6 albums of original songs (the latest of which is “Tratto Da Una Storia Vera”, released in 2021), as well as two tribute albums both dedicated to his tutelary deities in jazz: Chet Baker (“Chet Lives!” 2013) and Billie Holiday (“Dear Billie”; 2019).
To celebrate his 30-year career, last year Joe Barbieri released a live album (“Tratto Da Una Notte Vera”) and launched a successful tour entitled “30 Anni Suonati”.
His music (sold in tens of thousands of copies) is published in many countries around the world, and his personal stylistic signature – which links the singer-songwriter to jazz and world music – has led him over the years to collaborate with colleagues in each of these fields (from Omara Portuondo to Jaques Morelenbaum, from Stacey Kent to Luz Casal, from Jorge Drexler to Hamilton De Holanda) and to tread some of the most prestigious stages on the planet.
In the spring of this year one of the most significant and exciting projects of his career will see the light, that is, his personal tribute to the Great Neapolitan Song. The album will be titled “Vulío”.
