Online shopping has seen an exponential increase in recent years, and with it has grown the workload of couriers responsible for ensuring fast and efficient delivery to consumers.

However, the big question is: as the workload has increased, has the couriers' paychecks also increased?
Skyler Stutzman, a UPS courier from Oregon in the United States, responded with a video posted on TikTok last October but which has gone viral in recent days with over 12 million views.

In the video, Stutzman shared his latest paycheck, which came to $2.004 for a week of work. Doing the math shows that the courier, after taxes, took home about $1.300 for a 42-hour work week, for a net hourly earnings of $44,26.

Although these figures refer to his specific case, many users were surprised and some did not hide their envy: "I can't believe that a UPS driver earns more than me after working in the same sector for 20 years. And I also have a degree," someone wrote in the comments.

Let's remember that Stutzaman lives and works in the United States, where labor regulations are different from those in Italy: in the US, the Teamsters union has just reached an agreement with UPS, guaranteeing drivers a salary package of $170.000 by the end of the five-year contract.

The courier, in the video, in fact underlines that this paycheck is the result of recent contractual increases and that it took him 10 years to become a full-time UPS delivery driver, after having spent almost six years working in a warehouse.
