Angelo Pisani, the Pibe de Oro's longtime lawyer, has asked the government to intervene so that the tax authorities can definitively close the other pending cases arising from the main case.
"The Supreme Court ruled that Maradona did not commit tax evasion," Pisani said at a press conference in Naples. "However, that affair, which began in 1990, triggered other proceedings that are now gradually being resolved. These proceedings have had a cost, but we have moved forward with determination, knowing that Maradona had committed no violation."

The lawyer recalled that the affair had a negative impact on the footballer's career, who was forced to pay large sums of money and suffer several humiliations.
"We ask that the tax authorities, as a matter of self-regulation, close the matter," Pisani concluded. "It's right that Maradona and his family can finally find peace."
