Three musical shows featuring two famous names from the national artistic scene such as Maurizio Casagrande and Antonella Ruggiero, a series of cultural initiatives including an immersive exhibition at Palazzo Mezzacapo and various events for children that will be added to the tried and tested events proposed in past editions. All this while waiting for the three parades of allegorical floats that will liven up the route from via Nuova Chiunzi to the tourist port, where the dance troupes will perform (the awards ceremony will take place on the 18th evening) crossing the Maiori seafront as usual: on 11, 13 and 18 February.
Everything is ready for the big event, therefore, in the town of the Amalfi Coast that this year celebrates half a century of life of its Carnival. And for the occasion the municipal administration of Maiori, led by the mayor Antonio Capone, has prepared a very respectable program. Starting with the events chosen by the artistic director Alfonso Pastore.
For the 50th edition of the Carnival, an unprecedented Maurizio Casagrande will arrive in Maiori (the actor will be on stage with a pianist and a singer: a dangerous “triangle” that will lead the girls to gang up on him, putting him in a clear minority) with the show «A tu per tre» scheduled for Friday 9 February (21 pm) at the Teatro del Carnevale at the Hotel Pietra di Luna. Then it will be the turn of an unmistakable voice like that of Antonella Ruggiero (she will be the protagonist with her “Souvenir d'Italie” on Friday 16 February, 21 pm, again at the Hotel Pietra di Luna) who will anticipate by one day the evening «Nostalgia '90» (17 February at 21.30:90 pm), a Show/Party with music, entertainment, themed entertainment, 17s decorations, sets, dancers, mascots, gadgets and special effects scheduled for Saturday XNUMX February at the amphitheater of the tourist port.
To participate in the events, all completely free, you will need to book on the platform www.eventbrite.it. In between, a series of cultural and children's initiatives. Starting with the exhibition spread along all the flowerbeds of the Amendola seafront that will give prominence and new life to the memories of the community linked to the Carnival.
This will be the event that, on February 4th, will open the 50th edition of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese whose program is completed with the Willy Wonka Experience (February 4th at Palazzo Mezzacapo), the Harry Potter Experience (February 18th at Palazzo Mezzacapo) and the Gran Carnevale Maiorese Experience with an immersive 3D Mapping (scheduled from February 10th to 13th) where you can admire the history of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese in a one-of-a-kind experience. Among the events also the Ufficio Parole Sperrite di Teatro nel Baule (February 8th at the Pietra di Luna hotel), the usual appointment with the Mascherine (February 12th at the Pietra di Luna hotel) and «Se lo sai Rispondi» (February 17th at Palazzo Mezzacapo at 16:30 pm) by the Papersera association.
Among the events is also "The Night of Presidents" scheduled at Palazzo Mezzacapo on February 10: a gala evening with the awarding of prizes to the people who have succeeded one another over the years and contributed to the growth of the event. On this occasion, the "Roberto Di Martino" Trophy will be returned to the organizers by the group of float designers who won the previous edition of the Carnival.
There will be three parades of allegorical floats, which this year will also be joined by a work created by a group from nearby Tramonti. The float, not in competition, will take part in the event in which the ballets and works created by the papier-mâché masters of Maiori stand out, who were inspired by the theme of "Roots" as a distinctive element of the Belpaese.
The Gran Carnevale di Maiori, on the occasion of its 50th edition, will tell the story of Italy through papier-mâché. In line with the year of Italian roots promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. There will be five monumental works that will parade along the seafront of the town on the Amalfi Coast and all dedicated to Made in Italy: from the homage to Galileo Galilei and gastronomic traditions, passing through the Grand Tour and the symbolic monuments of the Bel Paese, up to Collodi's Pinocchio and the myth of Enzo Ferrari and the "reds". During the opening and closing parades of the Gran Carnevale Maiorese there will also be two suggestive fireworks displays on the sea that, in conjunction with the passage of the allegorical floats, will illuminate the entire seafront with lights and colors.
