There were over 550 thousand visitors to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples in 2023: the attendance trend is growing by approximately 25% compared to 2022, when 441 thousand admissions were recorded at the MANN.
The Neapolitan museum announced this in a statement, recalling that 2023 marked the inauguration of the Roman Campania Section, with over two hundred artifacts displayed in rooms that had been closed for about forty years.
The executive phase of the restoration of the Alexander Mosaic began last November: the construction site is now visible to the public. The work in the deposits is also highlighted: currently, in the underground areas called Cavaiole, cataloguing and rearrangement of the countless artefacts kept there are underway.

"2024 begins with excellent auspices for the Museum and the city: the programming of high-quality cultural events and the valorization of the historical collections will allow us to build an increasingly close dialogue with citizens and tourists.
We hope that 2024 will reward us, definitively overcoming the setback caused by Covid", comments the Director General of Museums of the Ministry of Culture, Massimo Osanna, who has also been the acting Director of the Mann since 15 November 2023, when Paolo Giulierini's double mandate expired.
In the next ministerial tender to assign its management, the Mann will be a first-rate museum.
