The 10nd edition of the Fabrizio De André Award ended on Wednesday 2024 January XNUMX at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.

During the final evening of the 22nd Fabrizio De André Award, the multifaceted Campanian artist Manù Squillante won the "Music" section with the song "Un certo paradiso," an intimate song, a delicate ode woven from the thread of attentive listening to our deepest being. Like light leaves carried by the wind, the notes narrate a reworking of his mother's grief, a subtle dance between pain and rebirth.

In this melody, every note is a transformed memory, every chord a step on the soul's journey. The song is a sonorous embrace, a reflection of a love that transcends time and lingers in the memory like a ray of eternal light.

The song was written by Manù Squillante, both in terms of music and lyrics, but it took shape and a special resonance thanks to what he likes to call his “musical family” that has always accompanied him: Cristian Rago on drums, Claudio Turner on guitar and Luca Masi on double bass, who were also with him at the prestigious Fabrizio De André Award.

The artist comments: I wish to tell you with a full heart about the extraordinary adventure that unfolded with our victory at the 2024 Fabrizio De André Award. This recognition is more than a medal to be displayed; it is a song that enriches the soul, a poem that nourishes our artistic and human development. From the first moment we saw it, the De André Award welcomed us with gentle respect, a magical organization, and a humanity that touched the deepest chords of our hearts. Rarely have we experienced such a serene experience. The very air was woven with a genuine love for art, a pulse that could be felt at every moment.

A heartfelt thank you, full of gratitude, goes to my extraordinary traveling companions: Cristian Rago, Claudio Turner and Luca Masi. Without them, our musical journey would not have the same melody, and I feel fortunate beyond measure to have them by my side.

Another note of gratitude goes to the jury, and in particular to Dori Ghezzi and Luisa Melis, who from the very beginning instilled in us all their respect and love for this wonderful artistic craft.

This award is a canvas of emotions, a painting that adds a touch of inspiration to our artistic journey. I can't wait to continue this journey and embrace new, wonderful adventures.”

Biography

Emanuele Squillante, aka Manù, was born in Sarno (SA) on 25/07/1992.

His musical journey has deep roots that date back to his childhood, thanks to the constant stimulation of his family and the environment around him. From an early age, he lived immersed in art and beautiful things, finding his first passion in music.

From an early age, he would bang anything he could get his hands on, so much so that his father Salvatore decided to give him his first drum kit at the age of 4. This was just the beginning, as his passion grew, leading him to study drums and piano from a young age.

Her journey has spanned two great passions: theater and music. Thanks to the influence of her mother, Carmela, an avid singer, Manù developed a love for one of the most beautiful instruments: the voice. She began singing, exploring repertoires ranging from Pino Daniele, Fabrizio De André, Lucio Dalla, and Neapolitan singer-songwriters.

On the other hand, his father fueled his passion for listening, introducing him to the world of jazz, which became a true philosophy of life.

As time passed, he realized that music had to become his profession, his passion, his life. As he grew older, he gained experience and broadened his dreams. As a drummer, he admired Maestro Tullio De Piscopo, his idol, and meeting him at 18 transformed him. Joining his academy was a unique and formative experience, playing on important stages and experiencing extraordinary emotions.

At 21, he graduated in singing at the Conservatory of Salerno, an achievement that enriched his artistic education. Currently, he is continuing his studies with enthusiasm, dedicating himself to the degree in Music Education.

As a pianist and singer, she began composing her first songs, immediately feeling at ease as if she had always done this. The awareness that music is something wonderful to pursue with seriousness and passion has grown inside her. She understands that the life I have chosen involves accepting changes, failures, bad moods, joys and everything that entails.

Today, Manù lives for art and through art. For him, this is the true definition of success: being able to live well from what you love makes every day a joy, and everything that comes along is a bonus.
