The memorandum of understanding between the Torre Annunziata Institute and the multinational pharmaceutical company for the technological course of “Chemistry and Health Biotechnology” has been renewed.
The Marconi-Galilei Institute of Torre Annunziata and the multinational pharmaceutical company “Novartis Italia”, with operational headquarters in the city of Oplonti, have signed an extension until 2026 of the “Marconi-Novartis Junior Academy” Memorandum of Understanding, which will allow an educational partnership for students of the “N” course of the technological address of “Chemistry and Health Biotechnology” of the Torre Annunziata Institute.
The co-design, resulting from the synergy between the school and the company experts, allows the course of study to be inclined towards a chemical-pharmaceutical specialization, unique in the entire territory.
The project, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the school institution and the world of work, represents a first step in a path of cooperation that allows students to obtain real and concrete learning, usable in the job market in the chemical-pharmaceutical cosmetic, nutraceutical and food sectors, as well as acquire the necessary tools to continue their studies in the scientific-health field (medicine, biology, STEM).
The first company visit took place in May 2023, at the company's Quality Control laboratory, and saw the students in direct contact with the company structure and the organization of laboratories that use latest-generation instrumentation in the chemical-analytical field.
The activities will continue in the future school years (2024-2025 and 2025-2026) with training meetings and seminars proposed by Novartis experts on specific and current topics, scheduling visits to the company for orientation/information of technical teachers and with student classes.
“The experience of cooperation in these first three years has generated enthusiasm and curiosity in the students of the “N” course who have been able to experience first-hand, during meetings with the company, the possibility of new training opportunities with concrete job opportunities”. Declares the Headmaster of the Marconi Technical Institute Agatha Esposito, which focuses on the employment prospects of the study path: “The opportunity offered by our “Chemistry and Health Biotechnology” course tries to provide answers to the production needs of our territory.
My institute is innovating teaching through a fruitful and continuous dialogue with companies in the industrial sectors to which its addresses belong, to imprint proactivity in school actions and research activities, to promote the social and identity value, as well as economic, of doing business, through the technical, methodological, media support provided to the Institute by highly successful companies, such as Novartis. I thank – Professor Agata Esposito continues – Sabino Di Matteo, Site Head of the Novartis plant in Torre Annunziata, and Valentina Esposito, Head of Health, Safety and Environment, who interacted with our students with competence, professionalism and strong empathy, literally opening up a world of knowledge for them”.
