Salerno, January 10, 2024 The new year for dLiveMedia begins with music. On Friday, January 19 at 17.30:XNUMX pm at the Teatro delle arti in Salerno, Phil Mer, one of the most sought-after session men of his generation in Italy, will hold a drum masterclass.

The day is organized by dLiveMedia directed by Roberto Vargiu and the Monte Pruno Foundation chaired by Michele Albanese, in collaboration with the Teatro delle Arti.
Philipp Mersa, born in 1982, Phil Mer took his first steps in the world of music at the age of 4. It was Red Canzian (who married Mer's mother for the second time) who gave him his first drum kit.

Guitar and piano came next, but he never forgot his first love. So much so that at 16 he made his debut on percussion during the Pooh summer tour. At just 18 he recorded a fusion album with his colleague Paolo Conti. A year later, he starred in the musical Pinocchio.

But Mer is not only the drummer of I Pooh: the Italian composer has played for Pino Daniele, Malika Ayane, Michele Zarrillo, Patty Pravo, Annalisa, I Pooh, Enrico Ruggeri, Lorenzo Fragola and Francesco Renga. On the Jazz music front, his collaborations are with David Binney, Jason Lindner, Stefano di Battista, Roberto Cecchetto, Gianluca Mosole, Francesco Bearzatti, in addition to being the founder, together with Andrea Lombardini, of the project The Frames, in which he translates pictorial masterpieces of the history of art into music.

His drumming is very technical, but his great passion for all the instruments and his hard work in the studio as a session musician give us "intelligent percussion", as if Mer knew how to "switch" depending on the situation, but always in favor of the music itself.

Following, at 20 pm, the screening of «Casanova Opera Pop», the musical film by Red Canzian and the arrangements by Mer himself. Venice, queen of the seas, Lady of the eighteenth century, has reached the sunset of its thousand-year history. Between the liquid mirrors of the canals and the velvet curtains of the theaters, life smiles during the day and flames up at night.
