Known as the muse of Federico Fellini, who had affectionately nicknamed her Sandrocchia, left a mark on the world of cinema, television and theatre.
Born with the name of Savior Elena Greco, has had a long and brilliant artistic career. In addition to being the long-time inspiration for Fellini, she has worked with directors of the caliber of Antonio Pietrangeli, Sergio corbucci e Luciano salce, just to name a few.
He shared the set with actors of the caliber of Alberto Sordi e Marcello MastroianniHer first major role came in 1959, in the film “General Della Rovere” directed by Roberto Rossellini, in which she played the character of a prostitute alongside Vittorio De Sica.
It is difficult to give a precise definition because she was many things: actress, presenter, singer but, above all, a character. An episode for everyone, the famous “Cyrus, Cyrus”, shouted live on TV during the program “Love is a wonderful thing” when someone gave her the (false) news that her son had had an accident.
When on TV he shouted “Ciro, Ciro”, due to the (false) news of his son's death
It was 1990 and Milo already had a long film career behind her which, in 2021, earned her the David Speciale at the David di Donatello. Her film debut was in 1955. Salvatrice Elena Greco, this was her real name, acted alongside Alberto Sordi in the film “The Bachelor” by Antonio Pietrangeli. She had already had her first failed marriage behind her, the one with Marquis Cesare Rodighiero, contracted at just 15 years of age and declared null and void by the Sacred Rota.
After a few other genre films (Milo, with her generous curves, quickly enters the “busty” category), her first important role comes in the film “General Della Rovere” (1959) by Roberto Rossellini with Vittorio De Sica.
This was followed by “Ghosts in Rome” by Antonio Pietrangeli but, above all, “8½” (1963) and “Juliet of the Spirits” (1965) by Federico Fellini, of whom she became the muse and, as she herself said, lover for seventeen years. For both films she won the Nastro d’argento as best supporting actress.
Many programs in Rai and Fininvest
After numerous other roles in which she was directed by directors such as Dino Risi, Luigi Zampa and Luciano Salce, Milo decided to give up cinema to dedicate herself to her family. In the meantime, in fact, she had a long relationship with Moris Ergas, with whom she had her daughter Deborah, and she married Ottavio De Lollis with whom she had two other children, Ciro and Azzurra.
In the early 1980s, after returning to the cinema, Milo arrived at Rai. It was the period of her relationship with the then leader of the PSI Bettino Craxi. The actress hosted a column in Giovanni Minoli's program "Mixer" and then the afternoon program for children "Piccoli fans". After Rai, she also arrived at Fininvest (now Mediaset) where she hosted (on Retequattro) "Cari genitori" and "Giorno di festa".
In 2001 she returned to Rai as a commentator on “La vita in diretta” during the Sanremo Festival. Two years later Pupi Avati wanted her in his film “Il cuore altro” and, since then, she has continued to alternate television, cinema and theatre. On TV we have her, among other things, in the seventh edition of “L'isola dei famosi”, in “Io e te” and in “Estate in diretta”. At the cinema she was directed by Gabriele Salvatores in his “Happy Family”.
Finally, the theater brings her to the stage with “8 women and a mystery”, “The oval bed”, “Steel Magnolias”, “The widows club” and “A girlfriend for dad”. In 2023 her last TV appearance, on Sky Uno, in the television journey of “Quelle brave ragazze” alongside Mara Maionchi and Marisa Laurito.
