The eighth edition of Mutaverso Teatro, directed by Vincenzo Albano, continues this week with a double appointment.

On Friday, January 5th, at 21.00:XNUMX PM, Menoventi, one of Italy's most interesting experimental companies, will be performing Entertainment - A Comedy in Which Everything is Possible (nominated for the Ubu Prize in two categories: New Foreign Text/Dramaturgical Writing and Best Actor), by Ivan Vyrypaev, the most performed contemporary Russian playwright in Europe, who divides his time between film and theater and won the Golden Lion at the XNUMXrd Venice International Film Festival.

The play, starring Tamara Balducci and Francesco Pennacchia, is directed by Gianni Farina and leads us to question the intimate nature of entertainment, with a divergent perspective that reverses the positions of actors, characters, and spectators (performance limited to 50 spectators; reservations recommended). Sunday, January 7, at 21.00:2020 PM, it will be the turn of Stay Hungry - Indagine di un affamato by and starring Angelo Campolo. The show, winner of the Nolo Fringe Festival and In-Box 13, brings to the stage the stories collected by Campolo, an actor and director split between Milan and Messina, engaged in theatrical research in reception centers along the Strait of Messina. Full ticket price €10; reduced €30 (for under XNUMXs).

Entertainment - A comedy where everything is possible features a woman and a man who go to the theater to watch a performance. Attentive and curious spectators share and comment on their insights into the rules of theatrical fiction and the relationship between the ghosts that populate the stage, unable to identify a clear boundary between actor and character. Can you love someone who isn't there? By reiterating this question, Vyrypaev's text takes us to the boundaries of performance.

Entertainment indicates a meridian not marked on the map of reality, an environment in which actors, spectators and characters trigger a short circuit that confuses roles: without you I do not exist. The passage to enter the game of parts is opened by love, a generative force that unites the players and confuses the scenarios; love has the power to change the function of the participants to prepare them to take the entertainment in progress seriously.

Stay Hungry - Investigation of a Hungry Man is a powerful story born from the personal, everyday experience of encountering and listening to others. Angelo Campolo leads us into his workshops on the shores of the Strait of Messina, where, through his unique creative approach, an encounter with a group of young migrants marks the beginning of a special adventure. The game of theater becomes a tool for interpreting the present and facing life. Steve Jobs's admonition, "Stay Hungry," resonates mockingly in the kaleidoscope of human stories, from North to South, that traverse the memories of this autobiography. Victims and perpetrators blend together, good and evil are divided by uncertain boundaries, and all the characters are marked, each in their own way, by a "hunger" for love and knowledge, in a time of emptiness that becomes chasms.
What emerges is the story of an Italy that schizophrenically opened and then closed the doors of welcome, leaving behind stories, dreams, projects, human relationships launched at the (overly enthusiastic) cry of Integration. In Angelo's story, actors and migrants find themselves together, with ever fewer opportunities to satisfy their hunger for life and meaning in a society like ours, finding in the game of theater an unexpected weapon to face life.

Giulia Drogo's stage design features a simple layout, as required by the show, which must adapt to a variety of spaces. The stage, ideally divided into two sections, features a research area at the back (table, computer, microphones, and a screen for projecting the required materials, which punctuate the narrative chapters). At the front, in the proscenium, in direct contact with the audience, is a space/workshop dedicated to storytelling, where numbers and cold bureaucratic categories translate into souls, faces, stories, and names, relived by Angelo in a confidential and passionate dialogue with the audience.

From January 4th to 9th, as part of Mutaverso Teatro, / is also scheduled, a training masterclass on cultural organization and live performance, the result of a shared idea between Vincenzo Albano and Cesare D'Arco, organized by Ablativo Theatron 2.0, created this year in collaboration with the Blam team created this year in collaboration with the Blam team in the spaces of the Fondazione Comunità Salernitana Onlus.
