A special event in Naples starring Nanni Moretti.

At the Pierrot Cinema in Ponticelli, in the eastern part of the city, a meeting with 450 young people took place at "Lo Schermo e le Emozioni," a historic film festival for schools curated by the Arci Movie association. The event was organized in collaboration with the Teatro di Napoli-Teatro Nazionale and Carnezzeria Srls, coinciding with Moretti's performances at the Teatro Mercadante.

The renowned director and actor—who made his debut in 1976 with "Io Sono Un Autarchico" and acted the following year in Paolo and Vittorio Taviani's "Padre Padrone"—presented "Il Sol dell'Avvenire" at Naples East Film Festival, his latest film, which, as usual in his vast and acclaimed career, sees him in the dual role of director and star. The work—which explores themes of politics, cinema, and generational conflict—inspired curiosity among students and faculty, who were thrilled and excited to engage with one of the most important and outstanding figures in the world of Italian and international cinema.

Moretti directed films such as "Ecce Bombo" (1978), "Sogni d'oro" (1981); "Bianca" (1984); "La messa è finita" (1985); "Palombella rossa" (1989). More recently, also "Il Caimano" (2006), "Habemus Papam" (2011) and "Mia madre" (2015). Works in which Moretti, also active as a screenwriter and film producer, gave space to youthful discontent and political disenchantment.

Nanni Moretti is the first major guest of 2024 and of the initiatives launched by Arci Movie after the forced "pause" due to the pandemic. The "Lo Schermo e le Emozioni" (Screen and Emotions) series, involving thirty schools, fifty mornings of film screenings, and thirty thousand students in theaters, is an educational project for students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. The XNUMXst edition, titled "Italia e dintorni" (Italy and Surroundings), brings the best Italian films of the last two seasons to the renovated, more beautiful and welcoming Ponticelli theater, including The Fabelmans, The Little Mermaid, Mixed by Erry, Thank You, Drought, and Anne Frank and the Secret Diary.

"It was an immense joy to see a great artist like Nanni Moretti in Ponticelli meeting with our many students. It was a historic morning for us, very enjoyable and inspiring for Nanni Moretti, and he will certainly remain in the hearts and memories of our neighborhood.", says Roberto D'Avascio, president of Arci Movie.

Moretti, who yesterday brought "Nanni Moretti reads Sillabari by Goffredo Parise" to the city, will be at the Mercadante until Sunday, January 21st with the show—the first theatrical direction of his career—"Diari d'amore: dialogo | Fragola e sangue," two comedies by Natalia Ginzburg.
