The use of firearms will be subject to further restriction regarding the issuance of new permits and the renewal of existing permits.
This decision emerged during a Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, chaired this afternoon by the Prefect of NapoliMichele di Bari. The summit was held at the Government Palace and addressed various topics, with particular attention to the issue related to the use of weapons.
Based on the findings, a general analysis of the phenomenon was conducted in the metropolitan area, supported by joint data provided by law enforcement agencies, which are engaged in ongoing efforts to prevent and combat illegal gun possession, both physically and online. This data was compared with that relating to the legal possession of firearms.
Prefect Michele di Bari declared: "It was agreed upon the need for a careful preliminary evaluation prior to the issuing and renewal of authorizations, based on objective criteria shared by all relevant institutional actors." In this context, a crackdown is expected on the issuing of gun ownership permits and the renewal of existing permits.
