The Anm drivers of the Nc line, which connects Piazza Amedeo to Vomero, have called an immediate strike to protest the assault on one of their colleagues yesterday.
According to the USB union, the driver was first verbally attacked and then hit by a motorist who refused to move from the terminus to allow the bus to pull over to the curb.
The driver was forced to abandon the service and go to hospital, where he was given a prognosis of days of rest.
The protest by drivers is the latest in a period in which attacks on public transport workers are increasingly frequent.
The Anm drivers have announced that they will return to the depot until the Municipality of Naples intervenes to guarantee the safety of the service.
This is, Marco Sansone and Adolfo Vallini of the regional executive of Campania and the provincial executive of Naples of Usb respectively, the latest in a series of "aggressions and serious events damaging the safety and security of workers. The Usb - they add - highlights that, in implementation of the provisions of law 146/90, the provisions regarding minimum notice of strikes in essential public services will not apply.
The ANM drivers who operate on the Nc line will return to the depot until the Municipality of Naples intervenes to guarantee the safety and regularity of the service, by arranging a presence of the municipal police or, alternatively, by working with internal ANM personnel, Traffic Auxiliary, while waiting to find a definitive resolution to the problem, as already the subject of short-term discussions with the company”.
