Naples. Last night a group of kids were attacked by a baby gang in Galleria Umberto I.

One of the beaten youths managed to escape towards Piazza Trieste e Trento, where he asked for help from a patrol of the Municipal Police. The officers intervened, stopping the members of the baby gang and following a search, a 14-year-old was found in possession of a switchblade.

"We are in a full-blown emergency of weapons and baby gangs. Brutal and violent crimes are now the order of the day in Naples and the province and the protagonists of these follies are young people who are increasingly minors. The first culprits of this situation are undoubtedly the parents.

Too often, kids are left to their own devices, without rules, without values, grazing in the streets until late at night without anyone caring where they are and what they are doing. Parents should be the first to pay the consequences of their minor children's behavior because they cannot abdicate their educational role, if this happens, social services must intervene.

I have long been denouncing a violent drift that is devouring the minors of our city and against which adequate measures are not being taken. If necessary, let us militarize our streets. With constant control of the territory it is possible to prevent and combat these crimes, as happened last night in Galleria Umberto I.

The baby gang was neutralized thanks to the presence of law enforcement officers in Piazza Trieste e Trento who, acting immediately, managed to block the young criminals. We need constant patrolling if we really want to respond blow for blow to crime, preventing it from definitively taking over the city”. Thus said the deputy of the Green-Side Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
