Naples, bus ends up off the road: driver and passenger injured

The bus, in service on line 130, ended up off the road while travelling along Corso Malta in Napoli.

The vehicle, having reached the end of the ramp, tangential, left the roadway, it is not clear whether due to the driver feeling ill or a breakdown, and hit the guardrail and then the sidewalk.

A 74-year-old woman who was on board the bus and the driver suffered various injuries and were admitted to Cardarelli Hospital with a critical prognosis.

According to the USB (Unione Sindacale di Base) reconstruction, she was thrown from the bus following the impact. On-site investigations by the Local Police seem to support the hypothesis that the driver was ill, given that no skid marks were found on the road surface.

The vehicle has been impounded. "As USB," said Adolfo Vallini of the provincial executive, "we express our solidarity and sympathy to our colleague and to the people involved in this serious road accident, the cause of which is still unknown. There are currently no reported casualties, but the crash was very violent.
