New case at Napoli of illegal occupation of a public housing reported to the member of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli.

Mrs. Anna Altamura, a 75-year-old with a disabled son, owner of a council house in via Stadera at number 80 as the sole heir of her parents who had purchased it from the IACP, returned home last September 29 after a period spent at her daughter's house and found the property occupied by several families of Colombian origin.

The same occupants had managed to enter by obtaining the keys from an acquaintance of the owner to whom the house had been entrusted for a temporary period. After several complaints following which there was also the intervention of the Carabinieri, Mrs. Anna has not yet managed to return to her home.

“There are hundreds of illegal occupations underway, but there is still no clear picture of what is happening inside public housing in Naples and in all the metropolitan cities,” commented Borrelli.

Often the assignments are managed by criminal organizations, other times we are faced with cases of abuse orchestrated by illegal squatters against elderly or lonely people to induce them to leave, freeing up other houses to occupy.

Other times, like the case of Mrs. Anna, you are deceived by people who enter your home with an excuse and then do not want to leave. In this context, the priority is to clarify who occupies the public housing, with what titles and whether they are up to date with payments to the administrations.

An operation of truth that can no longer be postponed given the growing number of reports we receive daily. The time has come for management bodies and public administrations to do their part to stamp out the criminal presence and the trafficking of unacceptable business that takes place in these places". These are the words of the deputy Borrelli who will follow the story.

“I am 75 years old and have a disabled son, I don’t have much time left to regain possession of my house – says Anna Altamura. I am seriously worried because for over three months I have seen families of non-EU citizens taking turns in my home without knowing what is happening and without even being able to recover my things.

I also disconnected the utilities but I see that electricity and gas are still working. I would not want them to have connected illegally to some meter and then I would be the one to pay the consequences. My mistake? Having trusted a person I thought was a friend to whom I had offered hospitality. I would never have thought that the same person would give my keys to third parties and then disappear. I would not want it all to be premeditated.

I went to the Carabinieri, I reported it, but I am still out of my home. We bought the house from the Municipality with great sacrifice and now I cannot live there with my family. All this is not right and I ask the institutions for help”.
