A sit-in protest was organized in Napoli in front of the Port Authority by members of the 'MareliberoNapoli' movement. The reason for the protest is the stop to the extensions of beach concessions and the request for a "free sea for all".
The protesters sent a formal warning to all the competent territorial bodies, claiming that according to European and Italian laws, beach concessions cannot be extended without a new tender with European characteristics.
The activists are calling not only for immediate eviction, but also for the demolition of all easily removed works to the detriment of the outgoing concessionaire. Copies of the text of the warning have been posted on the entrance doors of the building and banners have been displayed. The protesters explained the reasons for the protest over a megaphone, emphasizing that local authorities and the competent authorities cannot be complicit in a government characterized by an evident conflict of interest.
According to the protesters, this government denies the right to the sea for everyone and prefers to pay million-dollar fines that the European community will impose in the coming days if there are no concrete answers.
