The Naval Air Operations Department of Napoli, within the framework of the intensification of economic and financial police services at sea, has completed the'operation called “Free Charter” aimed at controlling vessels dedicated to rental and leasing.
The activity of the Fiamme Gialle has been made complex and articulated also due to the high number of subjects that often operate in the sector in the absence of any authorization title to the detriment of users and companies that operate legally.
The operation involved the entire regional coastline with particular attention to the locations with the greatest tourist vocation, namely: Neapolitan Islands, Sorrentine peninsula, Amalfi Coast and Gulf of Policastro.

50% of the checks revealed irregularities
The Corps' activity has highlighted widespread illegality among its employees, so much so that 50% of the checks carried out were found to be irregular, with the consequent imposition of fines. administrative sanctions for approximately 400.000,00 euros and the reporting of 123 responsible persons to the Maritime Authority, Labour Inspectorate, INPS and INAIL
The checks were aimed at protecting the free competition, often penalised by unscrupulous operators and unwary boaters who, sometimes unknowingly, sail without a contract and with improvised boats and/or led by skippers without the necessary qualifications.
The operation in question falls within the exclusive functions of Sea Police entrusted to the Corps for the protection of users who can activate the intervention of the naval units of the Guardia di Finanza through the public utility number 117.
