Two people, a 34 year old and a 35 year old resident in Afragola, were arrested by the Highway Police of Naples North for theft, receiving stolen goods, resisting arrest and injuries to a PU
The two men were stopped during a routine check, while they were transporting a load of metal pallets from scaffolding stolen from a construction site in Acerra. They had been transported on apreviously stolen car.
During the service, the officers noticed a White Fiat Panda with the trunk open and loaded with metal platforms from scaffolding that protruded. Suspecting abnormal behavior, the officers pulled alongside the vehicle, but the driver accelerated to avoid the police check.
After a few meters, the fugitives suddenly abandoned the still-moving car, which continued to proceed without a driver, constituting a serious danger for road traffic.
Thanks to the timely intervention of one of the officers, the car was stopped and secured in the emergency lane, while the other officer chased and blocked the passenger.
The identified man, a 34 year old resident in Salicelle district of Afragola, was accompanied to the office. The search for the accomplice, a 35-year-old from Afragola, was immediately started and led to his arrest shortly thereafter.
Scaffolding thieves used a stolen car a few days ago in Caivano
It emerged that the car used by the criminals had been stolen days earlier in Caivano, while the scaffolding had been removed from a construction site in Acerra that same night.
Both arrested, with specific precedents, were taken to prison in Poggioreale with the authorization of the Judicial Authority.
