A ghost for over 13 years knowing he had to serve a definitive sentence of over 22 years in prison, the Albanian drug lord transplanted to a Napoli for years he has been betrayed by the vice of smoking and arrested by the police.

He is the first fugitive to end up in handcuffs in 2024, yet another one tracked down by the Carabinieri of the Neapolitan Provincial Command who just a few days ago closed the annual budget with 17 arrests.

The capture of Faslii Qibini is the result of a constant commitment and the culmination of research carried out over the years, on multiple fronts.

The 64-year-old of Albanian origins has a definitive sentence of over 22 years of imprisonment hanging over his head, international drug trafficking being the crime for which he was wanted.

He imported heroin on behalf of the Di Lauro clan and the Nardielli of Torre Annunziata

The man is considered a broker in cross-border drug trafficking. According to investigators, he would have managed and mediated heroin trafficking between his country of origin, Greece, Turkey and southern Italy where he did business with the Di Lauro clan and then with the “Nardielli”, a criminal group on the Oplonti side.

Then a long period of hiding, declared way back in April 2011 when, under house arrest, he escaped and disappeared without a trace. Without ever making a false step, far from the spotlight but not from the memory of the military of the Naples investigative unit.

They searched for him for over 12 years, until yesterday afternoon, when Qibini was walking along Corso Secondigliano, unaware that he was surrounded.
It was not a coincidence that cost him the handcuffs but a scrupulous monitoring of his family's habits.

Presumably far from Italy, the 64-year-old did not give up the Christmas holidays to hug his wife and son.
He was careful to avoid the street, to be seen around, but the evident increase in the volume of family "spending" turned on a light bulb in the minds of the police.

During the holidays, his wife and son couldn't resist stopping at the tobacconist's to buy cigarettes. Too bad they weren't smokers. The "blondes," the Carabinieri figured, were for someone else.
So the military intensified their surveillance and patrolled the neighborhood with ever-greater attention.

And a few hours ago, betrayed by his nicotine cravings, Qibini thought about buying cigarettes on his own.
He didn't have time to light one, the police surrounded him and arrested him.
He is now being held in Secondigliano prison.
