There is an imminent health and hygiene risk for the municipalities included in the Optimal Territorial Area (ATO) Naples3, due to the state of agitation proclaimed by the employees of the Sapna Company.

This state of unrest has caused problems in the delivery of waste to the plants Tufino e Giugliano, raising concerns among the authorities of ATO Napoli3. Despite the efforts of local administrations, the situation is currently critical and could worsen in the coming days.

Dozens of trucks are lined up waiting to dispose of the collected waste, while there is a limited impact on the citizens of Pomigliano d'Arco e Sant'Anastasia, thanks to the organizational measures adopted by the respective municipal administrations to avoid interruptions in the collection. However, the situation is fluid, and the authorities are on alert.

“I personally asked the president of Ato 3, Joachim Madonna, the urgent convocation of the assembly of mayors – he explained instead Cyrus Pavone, Councillor for the Environment of the Municipality of Sant'Anastasia and Ato3 Councillor – the state of agitation is an unacceptable blackmail retaliation.

Dialogue is welcome, but on the merits of the issue, without using citizens as a tool to be thrown against politics. This obstructionist action, induced following the resolution by ATO 3 of a new management model for the plants, is creating many problems for collection activities in all the Municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Naples.

In Sant'Anastasia, in the meantime, to avoid disruptions we have organized the work in such a way as to guarantee the regular execution of all the works and so far we are managing to do so without causing any inconvenience to the citizens, nor foreseeing additional costs in proportion to the delays caused by the interminable queues in front of the stir, which still persist today. Our position on this matter is very clear - concluded Pavone - the blackmailing attitude of the unions and workers is unacceptable".

The Mayor of Ercolano: “We could already have problems with waste today”

"It's the same old story. We're all trying harder to improve the cleanliness of the city, but something always happens that makes us go back". This is the comment written on Facebook by Ciro Buonajuto, mayor of Ercolano.

“The strike by Sapna employees is effectively preventing the dumping of waste into the Tufino Stir, managed by the Sapna metropolitan city company” Buonajuto writes "In Ercolano we could have difficulties starting today. It is absurd and shameful that despite the efforts of the good people of Ercolano, we are forced to pay for the responsibilities of others (ours are already enough ...)".
