On Monday, January 29, 2024, at 6:30 PM (first launch window), to coincide with the launch of MiniLab 1.0 containing the ReADI-SP scientific experiment from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, an event will be organized starting at 5:00 PM in Naples at the Aerospace Technology Center – Innovation Factory in Via E. Gianturco 31.
Speakers include: Mattia Barbarossa, Founder, CTO and CEO Sidereus Space Dynamics; Stefania De Pascale, Professor of Horticulture and Floriculture – Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II; Valeria Fascione, Councilor for Research, Innovation and Start Up Campania Region; Giovanni Squame, Sole Director ALI SpA
Athletes from the First Team and the Napoli Basket coaching staff will be present. "On behalf of our entire Club, we are delighted to participate in a high-level scientific research program: a zero-gravity trial on collagen and osteoporosis to strengthen bone structure and improve athletic longevity, " commented SSNapoli Basket CEO Alessandro Dalla Salda, who continued, " An ambitious and fascinating project that aims to 'fly' high, connecting sport, leisure, health, and scientific research in space."
THE READI SP EXPERIMENT – REducing Arthritis Dependent Inflammation Second Phase
ReADI Second Phase is the second phase of the ReADI First Phase experiment, launched into orbit in 2021, to study in microgravity conditions innovative medical protocols for the prevention of osteoporosis, a very common disease on Earth but also among astronauts. Curated by the team of scientists from the Department of Biology of the University of Naples Federico II, coordinated by Prof. Geppino Falco, the experiment will be contained in the mini laboratory MiniLab 1.0 designed and developed by the company ALI SpA of the Space Factory Group.
The integration, safety and launch support activities were carried out by the US company Nanoracks. The enhancement of the MiniLab 1.0 containing the ReADI Second Phase experiment was developed with a private investment by the Space Factory Group and with the financing of Intesa Sanpaolo with the Nova + instrument.
The scientific research center BioGeM and the company Erbagil also participated in the research activities. The sports company Napoli Basket has shown interest in the results of the experiment for possible applications in the sports field.
ReADI SP is the fifth launch into orbit in the last two years of scientific and technological activities of the Space Factory Group after the successes of the ReADI FP experiments, – the development of which was also financed by the Campania Region under the POR FESR CAMPANIA 2014/2020 – Priority Axis 1 “Research and Innovation” and by BCC Napoli –, OVOSPACE, ORION, launched last January 18, 2024 as part of the AX-3 mission, and the sub-orbital flight of the MIFE microsatellite.
In 2024, the Space Factory Group plans 2 more launches into orbit, including an experiment on the International Space Station contained in the MiniLab 2.0, an evolution of the current model that will allow its remote control and management, scheduled for November (SPACE SLIME) and the IREOS 0 microsatellite, scheduled for December. In particular, IREOS 0 is the first orbital flight demonstrator of the IRENESAT-ORBITAL mission, the proprietary microsatellite with the ability to re-enter autonomously and controlled from Space that from 2025 will carry out the first commercial service of scientific experiments in microgravity conditions.
