Napoli Unplugged is a festival of original music organized by the Brodo ETS Cultural Association, under the artistic direction of Viola Bufano. The initiative is supported by the City of Naples as part of the "Napoli Città della Musica" project.

It will take place from January 26th to March 22nd at the "Porta del Parco" Auditorium in Bagnoli, at Via Diocleziano, 341.

The festival features four musical events on Friday evenings, and will feature some of the most important singer-songwriters on the Neapolitan music scene, performing unplugged. The second edition of Napoli Unplugged will feature the following artists: DADA', Gnut, Francesco Di Bella, Francesco Forni, and Ilaria Graziano.

Below is the detailed program of the event, which will take place from January 26th to March 22nd.

  • FRIDAY JANUARY 26DADA'

A singer-songwriter who blends Neapolitan culture and world music with club and electronic influences. DADA's music pulsates with diverse sonic and identity influences: it elegantly and expressively represents everyday moments, familiar to everyone, but from personal and sometimes theatrical perspectives. A central theme of her artistic work is duality, which DADA' takes to the extreme and disintegrates to make everything plural, ambiguous, rich, diverse, and fluid. Pulcinella, the quintessential male and female mask, poised between good and evil, laughter and melancholy, is here a symbol of a pregnancy of possibilities. After a profound inner transformation, the singer-songwriter takes the first step toward her theatrical freedom, and she does so through a powerful symbol of transformation: gestation, which leads to a hard-won but peaceful revelation. Just as an artichoke must be savored leaf by leaf to reach its heart, Dadà's journey has been gradual and culminates in this, his first official project, which fully reveals his artistic soul.

  • FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9

GNUT

Neapolitan singer-songwriter who has been treading the music scene for years following his own unique and personal path; a songwriting that brings together Nick Drake and Elliot Smith with the Italian songwriting tradition and the Neapolitan song of Roberto Murolo. Writing to survive, living to write. Composing and singing is, for Gnut, food for the soul. Creating songs as a cure for the ills of this era has become essential. Nun te ne fa' is the album that testifies to the achieved artistic maturity of a musician, who after twenty years of experiences and musical contaminations, finds a unique and very personal way to convey his emotional songwriting and his unmistakable vocal timbre. A courageous ensemble project that confirms one of the most refined exponents of contemporary Italian songwriting.

FRANCESCO DI BELLA

Francesco Di Bella (Naples, born in 1972) began his artistic career in the early 90s by founding 24 Grana, a pioneering band of Italian alternative rock, for which he is the frontman and main songwriter. In 1996, the group signed a record deal with La Canzonetta Records, and a few months later, their album "Loop" surprised national music critics with its refreshing blend of new musical styles, such as dub and trip hop, with poetic and socially charged lyrics. 24 Grana were frequently invited to appear on radio and television, their popularity grew throughout the country, and they found themselves sharing stages with bands such as Afterhours, Verdena, and Marlene Kuntz. Francesco's performances are engaging and energetic, and the group became a hit in clubs, community centers, and at festivals nationwide and beyond, playing in France, Spain, Slovenia, England, and Japan. Together with the 24 Grana, "'O Cardillo" wrote and recorded 8 albums, two of which were recorded live.

FRANCESCO FORNI AND ILARIA GRAZIANO

The union of the two artists occurs thanks to their debut “From Bedlam to Lenane” (Goodfellas 2012), which brings together the experiences of each, creating an album that is acclaimed by the press as one of the best episodes of 2012. From Bedlam to Lenane is reviewed by the main magazines that underline its extraordinary communicativeness, taking the duo around Italy with over 80 concerts and openings including Alcatraz and Rock in Roma before the concert of Max Gazzè. The album wins the Marte Awards 2012 in the category “best album 2012” in January 2013. Some songs included in the album have been chosen as soundtracks for some successful films: “La strada” and “On y Va” are included in “L'arte della felicità” by Alessandro Rak. And then again “Mad Tom Of Bedlam” included in the romantic comedy “Maldamore”, “Love Sails” in the documentary “Revelstoke”. On December 5, 2013, the second album, “Come2Me”, arrives. “Twinkle Twinkle” is their third album, three years after the previous one, written and conceived on tour, it represents their emotional journey and their state of mind, opening a crack, a slit from which to look inside those small and subtle moments of intimacy.
