OToday, at the request of Legambiente Campania, the association's leaders met with the Prefect Michele Di Bari to request the establishment of an interinstitutional table with the Superintendency, the Municipality, the Municipality and other bodies for the management and protection of Piazza Bellini, an important historical site in Naples.
Today's meeting represents a further step forward in a journey that began last year, when Legambiente Campania launched the campaign "Clean Up the World" right in the historic square, in response to the degradation and worrying situation that characterized it.
The Prefect, acknowledging the commitment made by the bodies responsible for protecting the square and the active role played by Legambiente, has guaranteed to convene the inter-institutional table shortly to coordinate the redevelopment activities and implement preventive actions for the factors of degradation, involving all the parties involved.
The situation in Piazza Bellini has been aggravated by the emergence of violent acts, making joint action necessary to ensure the active protection of the place, considered a temporal and spatial crossroads of the historic center of Naples.
During the meeting with the Prefect, the President of Legambiente Campania, Mariateresa Imparato, Anna Savarese of the Regional Board and representatives of the Superintendence of Naples were present. The Prefect committed to promoting synergies between public, private and social private to enhance the experience of Piazza Bellini as a pilot example to be replicated in the city, ensuring a new and sustainable management of the monumental public space.
Thanks to the interaction of the Superintendency with the Municipality of Naples and Asia, some initial results have already been achieved, such as cleaning initiatives, changes in waste removal methods and lighting of the excavations.
The aim is to actively involve all those who live and work in the area in awareness-raising, information and entertainment activities to ensure the protection and correct use of the archaeological emergencies of Piazza Bellini.
