The Carabinieri of the station of PIMONTE they proceeded to the arrest of Salvatore Somma, 45 years old, resident in the area and already known to the police, for illegal possession of weapons, ammunition and receiving stolen goods.
During a normal patrol in the Ceppa location, the soldiers clearly heard two shots. Near the place from which the explosions seemed to have come, they spotted a parked car. In the front seat of the car were two rifle cartridges.
Since the car was registered in the 45-year-old's name, and aware that he did not have a gun license, the officers decided to wait, remaining hidden about twenty meters away.
Before retaking the vehicle, Somma wrapped the rifle in a sheet of transparent plastic and hid it in the thick surrounding vegetation. Once he reached his vehicle, the Carabinieri stopped him and searched him.
