A man was arrested for attempted robbery of a supermarket located in Via San Cristoforo in arcade.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon, shortly before the supermarket closed. According to witnesses, the man threatened the store's staff with a dog swatter, but was promptly stopped by some people inside the supermarket, who immediately alerted the Carabinieri.
Once they arrived on site, the military from the local station proceeded to arrest the individual, placing handcuffs on his wrists.
The news was made public by the municipal councilor Francis Portuguese, who commented on the event by underlining the courage shown by some citizens and the supermarket staff in facing the situation in self-defense.
Portuguese then underlined “the importance of strengthening the police force, urging the Prefect and the Police Chief of Naples to increase the staff both at the Public Safety Police Station and at the local Carabinieri station.
Mayor Vincenzo Cuomo has also been fighting for a long time to ask for greater controls in our city".
